Many of these immigrants live in households that are considered "linguistically isolated," defined as households in which no member age 14 or older speaks only English or speaks English at least "very well." Not surprisingly, areas with high levels of linguistic isolation tend to be neighborhoods with more immigrants—and likely more recently-arrived immigrants. Such areas include Anaheim, Santa Ana, Garden Grove, Buena Park, and Westminster. In Orange County, 8 percent of households are linguistically isolated.
