THANK YOUR CAREGIVER Share your gratitude on social media by tagging us or email heartbeat@providence.org Peg Currie Chief Operating Officer, Providence Health Care Chief Executive, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital and Providence Holy Family Hospital As I look back on the past year, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for our caregivers and volunteers at Providence Health Care. We have more than 9,000 "People of Providence" who serve in Spokane and Stevens counties. In collaboration with our health partners and others on the front lines, we collectively reminded our community that they can count on us. While the pandemic is not over yet, I think it is important to highlight stories of how our caregivers continued to care for all in this issue of HeartBeat magazine. It's their innovative thinking that brought mental health services to patients' homes by utilizing telehealth. It's how we approach all patients with team- based, well-rounded, whole- person care. It's that shared commitment to the most vulnerable in our communities that is exceptional. These are some of the incredible stories you will read about. You will also read about another caregiver — a name you probably recognize – Elaine Couture. She has served in Catholic health care for more than 40 years and is retiring this spring. She has been a role model to many, including me, and will be greatly missed. She reflects on her career and hopes for Providence's future with new leadership at the helm. Caring for our communities has never been more important. My hope through all of this is that we have proven that you can continue to count on us in times of need. Our Mission endures because of our caregivers, volunteers, patients and community partners. Here's to the love, kindness and hope that burns brightly in our hearts. To our caregivers, our kindness givers, our hope givers, Our givers of hard work and compassion, To everyone giving it their everything, thank you.
