Volunteers in Action

July 9, 2020 Providence News Team

Our youth volunteers have given hundreds of hours of their time to Providence Holy Cross. We are grateful for their continued support, especially during this time, when many have been showing their appreciation with handmade thank you cards and treats for our caregivers.

PHCMC volunteer Steven Kim assembled and delivered 60 snack packs for our caregivers. A student at Van Nuys Medical Magnet High School, Steven has volunteered over 320 hours at our hospital since July 2018! He has assisted in the main lobby, at the information desk and on the units. Thank you, Steven, for your continued support.

Congratulations to PHCMC volunteer Carina Barone, who recently graduated from Bishop Alemany High School and will be attending the University of Portland in the fall to start her nursing studies! In her volunteer role, Carina spent over 200 hours supporting the hospital’s gift shop and unit secretaries. She put together fun, colorful snack packs for the respiratory therapy team. Thanks, Carina!

Teen volunteer Dhruv Kaushik, who used to assist in the gift shop, brought handmade thank you cards and treats for the hospital's chaplains. Thank you, Dhruv, for your continued support!

Isabella Aguiling is a teen volunteer from Cleveland High School who has helped in our Mother-Baby Unit as well as our gift shop. She has volunteered 127 hours with us since July 2019. Thank you, Isabella, for the lovely handmade appreciation notes!

Bharat Mandyam is a student at Granada Hills Charter High School who is planning on studying medicine. Since April 2019, he has given 115 hours of service in the admitting department before transferring to the oncology unit to gain more experience interacting with patients. Bharat showed his appreciation to our Providence Heroes by delivering a big box of treats, which was given to the caregivers on one of the COVID units. Thank you, Bharat!

Amanda Coye, a teen volunteer from Louisville High School, helped at our Information Desk in the main lobby pre-COVID. She recently dropped off 100 handmade thank you notes and treats to show her appreciation for our caregivers. Thank you, Amanda!
