Parent organization Providence Saint Joseph Health also recognized
For the third straight year, Providence Holy Cross is among Becker’s Hospital Review’s Top 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare.
Of the 99 hospitals and hospital systems included in the national health care industry poll, Holy Cross was one of just three California hospitals to be recognized. Also included on the list, published this week, is the Mission Hills hospital’s parent organization, Providence St. Joseph Health, headquartered in Renton, Wash. The Becker’s list recognizes hospitals, health systems and health care companies that promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth.
With nearly 2,400 employees and more than 700 physicians on staff, Providence Holy Cross was recognized for workplace excellence, as well as for the benefits offered, wellness initiatives and efforts to improve professional development, diversity and inclusion, work-life balance and a sense of community among employees.
“There’s an incredible spirit of teamwork and collaboration at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center,” said Bernard Klein, M.D., the hospital’s chief executive. “Our physicians, employees and volunteers - all of whom we call ‘caregivers’ - are dedicated to providing highly reliable compassionate quality care.
This dedication has resulted in numerous successes for Holy Cross, recognized recently by a national organization as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation for quality care. And Nurse.org, a leading career web site for nurses, recognized Providence Holy Cross Medical Center last year as one of the best hospitals for nurses to work for in California.
Providence Holy Cross has maintained the American Nurses' Credentialing Center’s Magnet hospital designation for more than a decade, rating the hospital’s nursing staff among the top 6 percent in the nation for nursing excellence. It is the only Magnet hospital serving the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.
The Becker’s list of Great Places to Work features both U.S. health care provider organizations, such as hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgical centers and home health agencies, as well as other types of healthcare-specific companies, including consulting firms, health information technology vendors and medical societies. This list has been published every year since 2011.
In 2016, Providence Health & Services and St. Joseph Health came together to form Providence St. Joseph Health, a Catholic not-for-profit organization with 51 hospitals serving communities in seven states. This new organization was recognized by Becker’s for excellence in care and for its community outreach. Providence St. Joseph Health also was noted for its benefits package, particularly for providing resources for employees for guidance in managing their own health care.
