Stop Medical Distancing - a PSA from an alliance of healthcare experts

July 8, 2020 Providence Health Team

In an effort to encourage patients to seek the necessary care they need, Providence and its health care partners launched a new public service announcement imploring people to stop medical distancing. Watch the video below to learn more about why taking care of yourself is so important during these uncertain times.

The underpinning goal of the PSA is to assuage patient fears about seeking care when they need it. Social distancing, coupled with sheltering in place and wearing a mask has proven to be an effective tactic to slow the spread of the virus, it is critically important for people to continue talking to their healthcare professionals to get the care they need. For those with chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, distancing from doctors can lead to further complications. In children, delaying routine care, such as staying up to date on vaccinations or well-child visits that help to assess development and growth, can have negative consequences.

Patient safety is our top priority. From screenings to masks to visitor restrictions, Providence has taken steps to limit the spread of the virus across our care facilities. Learn more about our 7-step process to safely deliver care.

We understand the fear and uncertainty about venturing out to visit your doctor in person, but the time to tough it out is over. Now is the time to communicate with your doctor to find the right method to get you the care you need.
